Talking Okemah Town
Unpublished
Okemah it’s a small town
It’s not too big around
A mile long, two miles wide
An Okie town that won’t say goodbye
Okemah! Town on the hill!
On Friday night go to the game
On Saturday night we all drag main
Go to the Legion, take a U
Circle Sonic and Maggio’s, too
That’s up and down, all around
Saturday night in Okemah Town
The marching band it took State
Qualified for ten years straight
Woodwind and brass
That marching band has lots of class
That’s up and down, all around
Saturday night in Okemah Town
Woody’s house down the hill
Drive by it each day in my Oldsmobile
Shouldn’t have let that old house die
Sometimes can’t help but wonder why
The knocked it down
All around
Saturday night
In Okemah Town
But as Woody said, ‘It’s not too late
when something’s wrong to set it straight.”
After all I do believe
This world belongs to you and me
That’s up and down, all around
Saturday night in most any town
