Lanesboro The Town For Me
Unpublished
One hundred fifty years ago
Immigrants by the wagon load
Eased themselves down that steep grade
Which still takes my breath away
Lanesboro, Lanesboro, Lanesboro
Lanesboro the town for me
Tucked within them driftless hills
On sacred ground we’re living still
Beside that South Branch waterfall
We hear that Root River call
Lanesboro, Lanesboro, Lanesboro
Lanesboro the town for me
Where we can fish when we want to
Back when that train came through
Put them pennies on them railroad tracks
Once you’ve been here you will come back
Lanesboro, Lanesboro, Lanesboro
Lanesboro the town for me
Rails to trails, we hike and bike
Dancing beneath the moonlight
Farmers working in the field
At the break of day, time stands still
Lanesboro, Lanesboro, Lanesboro
Lanesboro the town for me
Where Buffalo Bill got his start
Now beauty fills the streets with art
When that noon whistle blows
I hear the past it calls us home
Lanesboro, Lanesboro, Lanesboro
Lanesboro the town for me
