We Sure Had A Good Night At Willie’s

We Sure Had A Good Night At Willie’s

Unpublished

Woke up beside a dry river
Been out on our own since 1970
Playing where we can until it’s all over
Never knowing what it is that tomorrow it might bring

We sure had a good night a Willie’s
Wouldn’t mind if we could do it all again
Tell me what more could there be to this living
Then to be with those you love and have them call you a special friend

Running smooth, dry and dusty
From the nights and the days spent out on the road
Many miles to travel before I get there
But like my pa’ I’m afraid I won’t live to be that old

We sure had a good night a Willie’s
Wouldn’t mind if we could do it all again
Tell me what more could there be to this living
Then to be with those you love and have them call you a special friend

There’s Walt and Armanda the two bartenders
Pop Nelson the owner of the hall
Bruce, Karen and Jesse’s fiddle kept us smiling
If we hung around for long we just might call this place our home

We sure had a good night a Willie’s
Wouldn’t mind if we could do it all again
Tell me what more could there be to this living
Then to be with those you love and have them call you a special friend
