Fred & Ruby
Unpublished
Their name is Fred and Ruby
They both like country music
They both have a heart purer than gold.
If they like you they’ll defend you
If you’re hungry they will feed you
A crock pot of beans with tatters on the side
They live in Winfield, Kansas
They talk about Hank Williams
And Bob Wills use to play down at the hall
Once a week they’d get to shaking
To the music Bob was making
Working hard ‘til Friday, then kicking ass all night long
Ruby was a tailor until they didn’t want to pay her
Enough to make a living off of sewing clothes no more
So, she got a job at Cessna and Fred he works at Boeing
Though she would rather be back at home making clothes
They live in Winfield, Kansas
They talk about Hank Williams
And Bob Wills use to play down at the hall
Once a week they’d get to shaking
To the music Bob was making
Working hard ‘til Friday, then kicking ass all night long
Now, Fred takes a liking to joking with the women
Makes you feel welcome when you walk into their home
Ruby’s quite a tailor, she’s also quite a singer
But she should never, ever, anytime ever use a microphone
They live in Winfield, Kansas
They talk about Hank Williams
And Bob Wills use to play down at the hall
Once a week they’d get to shaking
To the music Bob was making
Working hard ‘til Friday, then kicking ass all night long
