Riding Broncs & Bulls (Honoring Bill Cody)
Unpublished
Six years now have come and gone
Since told their pa’ had passed on
Tried to destroy their bloodline
By telling them a lie
Somehow, they knew it wasn’t so
Riding broncs and bulls at the rodeo
From town to town the highway was their home
Broke his back at Calgary
The rodeo a memory
They said he couldn’t ride them anymore
Trying to keep them far apart
How can you stop a bleeding heart
Somehow, they did know
Each time they went to the rodeo
Their pa’ was still alive
Riding broncs and bulls at the rodeo
From town to town the highway was their home
Broke his back at Calgary
The rodeo a memory
They said he couldn’t ride them anymore
Keeping their feelings deep inside
The oldest boy fifteen, when a letter arrived
Like wild mustang
Out on the wide Nevada range
Never seen so much joy in all my life
Riding broncs and bulls at the rodeo
From town to town the highway was their home
Broke his back at Calgary
Now there’s a family
They’re riding down the mountain to their home
