Rescue Me (Psalm 22)
“Do not stand aside: trouble is near, I have no one to help me.” Psalm 22:11
From the Album The Psalms
Why have you deserted me?
How far from saving me.
I cry out night and day.
Have I trusted you in vain?
Here I am less than a man.
People jest, they jeer at me.
They toss their heads, I hear them say
if you’re my friend set me free.
You pulled me in out of the womb.
Entrusted me to my mothers breast.
Placed on your lap.
At birth you gave me rest.
Now like water I drain away.
My bones are disjointed.
My hearts melts like wax.
I long to hear you laugh.
But packs of dogs fence me in.
Gangs of cowards are closing in.
They tie me hand and foot
and leave me lying.
But I proclaim my love for you.
From end to end I will serve you.
For a new world yet to come
there’s no denying.
But rescue me from dust of death.
Rescue me and give me rest.
Rescue me
Fescue me
Rescue me
