My Father’s Ring
Unpublished
The spirit of life we hold inside
Lives on in each breath, that keeps us alive
Like the ring I now wear, that my mother gave
To me from my dad on graduation day
My fatherās ring wrapped up in gold
With a diamond that shines within a black onyx stone
There are few things in life that mean more to me
Then the love that lives on in my fatherās ring
Bought by my mom, that my father wore
On their wedding day at a small jewelry store
Where Aunt Lura worked for so many years
Now each of them gone yet their spirit is here
My fatherās ring wrapped up in gold
With a diamond that shines within a black onyx stone
There are few things in life that mean more to me
Then the love that lives on in my fatherās ring
On my dying day to my son it will go
For him to pass on this black onyx stone
Filled with the dreams, so often come true
When giving thanks in all that we do
My fatherās ring wrapped up in gold
With a diamond that shines within a black onyx stone
There are few things in life that mean more to me
Then the love that lives on in my fatherās ring

Additional verses:
My fatherās ring once lost and now found
In a quarry so deep on the edge of town
In a ledge filled with silt, by my friend Bob McGee
Who dove thirty feet down and found my fatherās ring
āWhat can I do to ever repay
you for finding this ring?ā These words I did say.
āJust write me a songā, so said Bob McGee.
Whose spirit lives on in this song I now sing
Appears on
